The Woman card

International Women Day is here again. There will be fresh debates with all kinds of emphatic words thrown in – feminism, domestic violence, women safety.  But, we forget to include the biggest challenge that exists for women – the woman card.

Every day, I face situations that make me feel entrapped as a woman. However, I remind myself that no biases are solid enough. I work through challenges through collaborating with supportive people – both male and female.

But, most importantly, I break stereotypes by managing myself. I challenge biases by treating both genders as equal, not using language that discriminates against any gender and by not playing the “woman card”.

Accepting womanhood

There were people like her on television one day. One of them looked like her, one of them was darker, another was taller than her and the last one had an exceptionally cute smile. But, it was the message that made the maximum impact. All of them are beautiful because they are women.
